This image was taken against a brown velvet background at a focal distance of 18mm. I selected an aperture priority of f/9, the shutter speed was 1/15 sec, the ISO 1600.
I used Lightroom in order to adjust the bamboo to create a more pleasing image as by turning it diagonaly the curve seems to fill the frame and produce a more pleasing photograph.

Another good image is your 'curved' - again a good use of the background against which the curved stem is placed at a good strong diagonal. The image is sharp and well lit.
