I wanted to demonstrate the pattern of the petals of this gerbera. I set up my camera on the tripod with a focal length of 40mm, aperture priority of f/9, shutter speed of 1/25 sec and an ISO of 1600. I initially took an image focussing on the petals as it was the petals that demonstrate the ‘pattern’, but the image was more pleasing to the eye having the focus on the centre of the flower. I processed the image in Photoshop Elements and needed to tidy the background area as a whole, which was time consuming but worthwhile, I also darkened the centre of the flower to compliment the background.
