The objective of this exercise was to appreciate the simplest effect of changing lenses from one focal length to another.
I positioned myself in a car park on the Staunton Harold Estate overlooking the resovoir with the sailing club in the distance. The following photographs start with a 300mm exposure followed by 200mm, 135mm, 100mm, 75mm, I then carefully changed my lense and carried on with 55mm (standard focal length), 35mm, 24mm and my widest frame of 18mm. I found the telephoto lense a bit shaky as at full zoom the weight pulled the camera down so had to keep re-positioning, this could also be due to the fact that it was the first time I'd used my tripod so perhaps there is room for improvement there. On reviewing the pictures from widest to telephoto the difference in view is dramatically different, on widest view the sailing club or the boats aren't easily identified.
