The camera I am using is a FujiFilm Finepix S2970 28mm 18x optical zoom. It has all the manual controls of an SLR but dosen't have the detachable lens. The full zoom is the equivalent the to 529mm (35mm). Whilst the camera offers full control, its quite difficult to remember where everything is.
Tor this exercise I took the pictures from my deck looking down the garden, I took 3 pictures, one at the widest setting, the second at the camera's standard focal length which seemed to be 4.7, I tried the setting several times and feel this is correct. The full zoom captured the budha at the bottom of the garden really well. Reflection: Comparing the standard focal length was a very useful exercise as was the comparison with wise angle & telephoto pictures, although the camera settings are a bit tricky.
